There are 3 variants of realization:

  • 1 "In project filter dropdown" :

a)There is parent folder and subfolders
b)If the parent folder is selected monitoring through the all subfolders should be executed and displayed in real time
d)The parent folder should be displayed in the Project filter as folder-tree (with function collapse/expand)
c)System should remember my last action for Filters if I login/logout, in session

  • 2 "Section Filters in Menu bar"

a)There should be possibility to create/delete/edit folders with projects
b)If parent folder is selected monitoring for all subfolders should be executed and displayed
c)In Project dropdown should be displayed selected filted
d)System should remember my last action for Filters if I login/logout, in session

  • 3 "As user I want to see functionality Projects filter as in Jira (just the same mechanism)"

  1. Would be nice to have, but I think it's not addressing the root issue of one project might have multiple different environments (dev, staging, production or testing/live). I think we need to come up with a better way to address this (would love your feedback). This may be a temporary fix.
  2. Do you have any ideas on how we could make this look good and integrate it into the project filter while keeping it easy and intuitive?
  3. I do like that, I think we would need to play around with that. I think it would be integrated into with the second point as they are kind of the same issue.

Thoughts?

This case should be implemented if second and third will be implemented in 2 or more months, I believe and of cause this case should provide ability to monitor several projects on real time

You should add menu Filters in Menu bar (see img)
If you expand this section you should see Folder manager with next options:
    *create new folder
    *edit folder
    *delete folder
    *bulk action for subfolders
*all scheme should be as folder-tree
*maybe there should be drug & drop functionality, I do not not how it easy to be of using

In any case - need test version or mockup

Thanks for the mockup. I'll make sure we post mockups when we start working on this so we can discuss this more.

Yes, that would be great!

We've talked more about this and we are going to completely rework the filtering system and have a easy to use search bar.

We've added an improved search bar and filtering ui. Please take a look and let us know your thoughts. We'll eventually add a previous filter list or saved filters list :)

"One thing I would love to see in the Exceptionless UI is the ability to save custom filters/views and have them available for easy access from, say, the sidebar. That way, I could have a view for a particular custom event type, rather than having to select “All Events” and then type in a filter."

http://www.jetbrains.org/ring-ui/query-assist-ng.html could provide us query intellisense and auto completion.
