Address datasets show the points at all times, unless you use that point in the current edit. What I propose is checking the areas that overlap the point, and hiding the point if one of the areas already uses that address.
For example, this restaurant is already tagged with the address, but RapID is still proposing I add the address from my dataset. My suggestion is to detect and avoid cases like this.
