During our CI pipeline, we call deliver, to submit to the app store, and we then have to pay for the CI build minutes while waiting for the step to finish. This often takes 10s of minutes, for which we are paying for macOS build minutes, which are expensive.
Are there patterns that we can use to avoid paying for this time?
Some ideas:
Can we run deliver on a small Linux CI container, reducing the cost of the wait?
Is there a webhook or a callback that we can get from Apple to avoid polling?
Is there a token or ID for the app submission that we can get? Maybe I could submit the job, get a token, and then pass that token to my backend to periodically poll for the job status, using an AWS or lambda or something cheap?
