The building design these pull from often have steps and Corinthian style columns have fluted bases which is what I was trying to allude to.

I see @pkrawc ... I personally like only having one step, but we can see what other people think! I have added your icon along with your icon (minus the first step) to the main Figma ... along with the original icon that I designed.

Now that I think of it, your icon is starting to grow on me (the one with the second step)!

Sure thing @johnletey. If the consensus is that the single layer ground is preferable I would stretch the columns so that the icon takes up a 20x20 area.
