I'm having the same issue

@zanetu, you're running a rather old version of npm (I even have trouble with npm@2.4.1!). Can you try it after running one of the following?

npm install --global npm@latest-2

npm install --global npm@latest

For reference, here are the current values of latest-2 and latest, both of which work for me with Node 4.2.2:

npm info npm | grep latest | head -2
   { latest: '3.3.12',
     'latest-2': '2.14.9',

Glad to hear you got it working. As for npm@latest-2: you may need to rm -rf node_modules between different versions of npm (at least, that's what I did)
