Plugin does not work in Preview mode

IIRC, it was working correctly in Preview Mode in Cura 5.0. But now that I've installed the Beta, when I click on the Measuring Tool in Preview, it shows only one black dot. I cannot move the dot, nor can I made another dot.

It still works normally in Prepare Mode in the Beta.

Did it work in preview mode before?

Though I certainly understand why you would want to measure in the Preview view (on actual layer data), that is a lot more complex than measuring in the Prepare view. For that reason, I have disabled the measure tool in Preview ever since the first version.

Tnx @fieldOfView . My bad if it never worked previously in Preview by design. I'll close this issue. Although @tispokes has a good idea. Perhaps gray out the button in Preview mode, or otherwise indicate that it does not function in Preview. As a minimum, the black dot should not appear when the User clicks the Ruler icon in Preview. Nor should the pop up Distance table. This gives the impression that the Ruler is functional in Preview.

That should already be happening, and it does for me. It may be that this is something I fixed that is not in the current release version. I'll make a prerelease version to test.

Download the curapackage for your version of Cura and drop it on the buildplate as if it were a 3d model. Then restart Cura as instructed.

I just added this tool in Cura via the marketplace and I could select it in preview mode. But only after pressing the model.
Great tool! But I thought it was used for preview mode aswell.

Please put a note in the market place readme that only works in prepare mode, ive had it installed for a year and never got it to work and used to use blender to measure, until i checked here.
