Bad GUI init causes top menu to not work in specific case, using awesome wm #209

Steps to reproduce:

  • Have two monitors (in my case 2 1080 monitors)
  • Have secondary monitor in a tiled mode
  • Start Fiji on primary monitor (fiji will open on primary, then will move itself to secondary monitor)

There is a small ~1 pixel area I can click in the top left when this is taking up a monitor but not fullscreen. If there is another window open I cannot click on the menu at all. However, if I switch to fullscreen mode using my window manager I can use the menu again. The height of my window managers menu is approximately the same as the dropdown menu.

Note: All of the buttons below the top menu work either way.

I can work around this by:

  • setting secondary monitor to non-tiled mode, where it will then work correctly when opened from primary (but it still switches screens)
  • opening fiji on secondary monitor regardless of tiling mode

OS: Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS
Window manager: awesome v3.5.6
Fiji: "Latest" as of 12/7/18
