From the Settings page of the PWA window, I had the option to enable tabs. This option was under "Progessive Web Apps" section in Settings. I wanted to try it out, but it only turned my PWA window to a regular Firefox window. The problem now is that I cannot change it back. When I go to settings of the PWA, the option is gone! So I cannot change it back, and I cannot open any of my PWA in a dedicated web app window, how can I fix this? I tried reinstalling the extension, but it didn't help.

  • Operating system: Windows 10
  • Installation method:
  • PWAsForFirefox extension version: 1.4.0
  • Firefox version: 101.0 (64-bit)

Same issue here. But I don't think it is due to tab mode, instead the new release of Firefox (101.0), and it broke my pwa as well.

That's weird. I was having no problems today until I enabled that option.. Perhaps it triggered something and activated the bug sooner. Hope it will be fixed soon.

It seems Firefox 101 changed something that broke PWAs. I will try to create a fix soon.

This has been fixed in v1.4.1.

This has been fixed in v1.4.1.

Thanks a lot! When will the new version be available on the add-on store?

Well, v1.4.1 will never be available because it didn't actually fix the issue. But I released v1.4.2 which contains a proper fix.

However, I don't know when it will be available on the add-on store, because it needs to be reviewed and approved by Mozilla. Until then, you can manually download the native program from here (and then ignore the outdated extension warning).

I did try installing it manually, but I am not very well-versed in github and don't know how. Do I have to download all the files in from link? Which one do I load from Firefox? Do you have step-by-step instructions that I can refer to?

You need to download firefoxpwa-1.4.2-x86_64.msi and install it. Then, your PWAs should start working again.
