Community: Brainstorming 2022 OSR SIG roadmap

Defining OS maturity for financial services

  • Definition of OS Maturity should be prioritized
  • Focus on the unique take on OSR for financial services (regulatory requirements)
  • Define industry personas and what OSR maturity means to each one of them
  • Identify OSR value drivers and connect them to the OSMaturity Model dimensions

Promoting OS readiness for financial services

  • Open Source Security:
    • Ensure that OS Security is deeply tied into the OSR discussion, as security is a unique concern for financial institutions.
    • Connect with Linux Foundation on activities around OS Security and how they’re informing policies, processes and controls
    • Policy/process/control mechanisms within banks (e.g. FFIEC exams that guide toward solutions in one direction need to be reviewed in context of open source approaches): reach out to policy teams and evaluate if OSPOs could be a conduit to enable the OS Security conversation within financial institutions
  • Cross-collaborate with FINOS Innersource SIG
  • Build gamification (i.e. rankings) into the OSR maturity model promotion, in order to foster “co-ompetition”

Building tools (documents) for OS readiness

  • no community input received on this topic at the February 2nd meeting

Action items:

  • @vmbrasseur to create a github issue to continue the Roadmap discussion and refine ideas
  • @vmbrasseur and @psmulovics to present a roadmap topic shortlist at the March 2nd OSR meeting
  • All participants to submit roadmap topics and to collaborate on topic prioritization and roadmap at the March 2nd OSR SIG meeting
