"The Firebug extension isn't being developed or maintained any longer. We invite you to use the Firefox built-in DevTools instead."

I doubt you'll ever see a release for more recent versions :)

@Joyce-Luna Firebug still "works" here, while I must say that more and more features seem to be broken each time I update Firefox.

I would like to add that since very recently, the "HTML" panel no longer shows any content, which is for me the most important component in Firebug. This used to work here until about a week ago.

@leryan This is really sad, because I love Firebug and do not find all features in the built-in DevTools. :-(
May I ask if there is a chance to get the most fundamental things (like the HTML panel) fixed for Firefox 56? I might offer my help in doing this, if someone gives me an introduction to Firebug internals.

Thanks for your years long support of Firebug - and best greetings!

I'm not part of any development of this project, but from what i see here, and also that news about a recent upgrade of ff native dev tools in the developer version (stable +1), you shouldn't need firebug at all.

I don't do webdev often but the native tools get more and more featured as ff is progressing.
