I'm going to call this one a moonshot.

I would merge an acceptable patch for it, but I wouldn't hold my breath for one materializing.

It's reasonably tricky to implement and not of too much use given typical commandline sizes - it's really much more useful in an editor with hundreds of lines.

In the meantime, the default bind \ev (alt-v) is your friend.
