clicking somewhere in the window does not focus it (only on title bar)

I found:
SFML/SFML#437

So it should be done by an SFML update

Tried latest SFML version. It is INCOMPATIBLE with current tgui -> crash.

We were already using the latest stable, did you use the SMFL repo snapshot?
If so, we could maybe try the latest TGUI snapshot too: https://github.com/texus/TGUI/archive/master.zip

I pulled the Repo directly and compiled it - so it is really the newest available. The problem is that I didn't rebuild tgui and thor which seems to be necessary to be compatible.
