I can reproduce this on the latest versions of flutter. This seems to be an issue with M2 as it works just fine in M3. updated sampleimport 'package:flutter/material.dart';
void main() {
runApp(const MyApp());
}
final ValueNotifier useMaterial3Notifier = ValueNotifier(false);
class MyApp extends StatelessWidget {
const MyApp({super.key});
// This widget is the root of your application.
@override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return ValueListenableBuilder(
valueListenable: useMaterial3Notifier,
builder: (context, value, child) {
return MaterialApp(
title: 'Flutter Demo',
theme: ThemeData(
primarySwatch: Colors.blue,
useMaterial3: value,
),
home: const MyHomePage(title: 'Flutter Demo Home Page'),
);
}
);
}
}
class MyHomePage extends StatefulWidget {
const MyHomePage({super.key, required this.title});
final String title;
@override
State<MyHomePage> createState() => _MyHomePageState();
}
class _MyHomePageState extends State<MyHomePage> {
@override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Scaffold(
appBar: AppBar(
title: Text(widget.title),
),
body: Padding(
padding: const EdgeInsets.all(16.0),
child: Wrap(
spacing: 8.0,
runSpacing: 8.0,
children: const [
ActionChip(
// padding: EdgeInsets.all(16),
label: Text('ActionChip'),
avatar: Icon(Icons.square),
),
ActionChip(
padding: EdgeInsets.all(16),
label: Text('ActionChip'),
avatar: Icon(Icons.square),
),
],
),
),
floatingActionButton: FloatingActionButton(
onPressed: () {
useMaterial3Notifier.value = !useMaterial3Notifier.value;
},
),
);
}
} flutter doctor -v

Sorry this issue is a bit shorter, I made it very detailed and then when submitting I got a 500 error from github, so have to recreate it all over again...
