So, I had been using the latest release (2017-7-31) yesterday and today at work, where my machine was updated to Windows 10.

I was editing the font naming table so I can properly install font families in Windows but at some point, fontforge began to give this error. They are OTF files, some of which I copied directly from my home PC. I was only able to open a few files, and those were the ones I generated yesterday and this morning. But now nothing else will open.

-Tried restarting
-Uninstall latest release / installed 2016 release, to no avail

I've seen a few people report this issue with other file types. Does anyone know what might be happening? I'm stuck editing these fonts for now. :(

Hi everyone,
I had the same issue on Mac OS 10.15.7 and I stucked too.
Definitely, after I pressed the OK button the OpenFont windows appears but I don't have any font file to select in my Mac.
Where can I find the lost font?
Tks

Samesies: trying FontForge for the first time today; just downloaded FontForge 2022-03-08 on macOS 10.15.7, and when I launch it, it briefly shows a splash screen and then the message "The requested file, -psn_0_101240967, does not exist" in a small dialog titled "Couldn't open font". There is also a Warnings box in the corner that displays a similar message. And the app, as far as I can tell, is unusable: no menus, no other UI that does anything.

EDIT: Not completely unusable! If I launch the app by dragging a .ttf font onto the app icon, I get the same warnings, but once dismissing those I appear to have the main UI showing all the glyphs in my font, with various menus at the top of the window.

Same with 2023-01-01-Windows version but for normal file.
I am going to extract fonts from my pdf file. My pdf file is in the Downloads folder, when I explore the Downloads directory in FontForge Open Font dialog, with Filter "Extract from PDF" or "All Files", I can't find my pdf file on the list, and there are so many files also not on the list. Same when trying run as admin.
