VanityCalc - Python module for calculating bitcoin address difficulty. This module is derived from vanitygen code (see https://github.com/samr7/vanitygen). It wraps the vanitygen code with a Python entry point but also is modified to remove console messages and strip unused code. This should handle dependencies: apt-get install build-essential python-dev libpcre-dev libssl-dev You may need to match libssl versions as well. I found that with Python 2.7 on newer Linux releases that install libssl1.0.0 by default I also had to install libssl0.9.8. It seems to be linked in by the build step. Maybe there's a more elegant way of fixing that. ----- To build this module, make sure you have any dependencies, and then, git clone https://github.com/bkkcoins/vanitycalc cd vanitycalc python setup.py build cp build/lib*/vanitycalc.so . This creates vanitycalc.so that you can copy to be with your Python code. The getdiff function takes a list of prefixes and a caseinsensitive flag. When calculating with more than one prefix in the list it calculates the next match diffculty, which I believe is the lowest value of any found. ----- chkdiffs There is an example chkdiffs Python program here to test it works and show how you might use it. It can take cmdline args to check but if none is provided it runs thru a preset list of chk values. ----- getdiff.c This a simple C cmdline utility that I used as an inital test of adapting the vanitygen code. It only checks one case insensitive prefix so is limited in usefulness. You should be able to build it like this, gcc -o getdiff getdiff.c -lpcre -lcrypto
