The wifi-mqtt device appears to consume much more power than it should.

  • 6 x 1.2 V AA rechargable batteries last for less than a day even if the device is sending values only once in 3 hours
  • a 10.000 mAh power bank will drain ~ 1/4 per day. It should also switch off after a couple of minutes if no device is drawing current. Instead it stays active, which is an indicator that the NodeMCU is constantly drawing current

Apparently the NodeMCU is not going into Deep Sleep as it is supposed to.
