As discussed here: https://www.freeorion.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=11617&p=100899#p100899

To reproduce:

1) Start FO
2) Connect to multiplayer server
3) Close window
4) Start FO
5) Press continue to continue a SP game
6) Close window
7) Start FO
8) Go to multiplayer

Result: server not remembered

Reportedly using a persistent_config.xml file can avoid this issue: https://www.freeorion.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=11617&p=100899#p100895
