automatically install tar #51
Comments
@mcandre installing tar is not the purpose of this module, you can definitely install it from your manifests. |
Correct, tar is not the purpose of this module. However, it is a dependency of the way this module installs redis, so it would make users' lives easier if the module would go ahead and install this dependency automatically, rather than letting the installation fail. |
where did you see this module using tar to install redis ? |
It may have been an older version of redis. I ended up switching to the fsalum-redis module to work around this. |
Could puppet-redis automatically install tar on behalf of the puppet user? Believe it or not, some puppet setups actually don't come with tar out of the box (e.g., devopsil/puppet).
