Bad sentences

Here's a collection of sentences that are incorrect or unfortunate for some reason, as well as the reason and a proper reformulation of the sentence. Feel free to extend.

  • "The Gamma Statechart Composition Framework is an excellent tool when it comes to platform-independent modeling of components, and is a great tool when it comes to heterogeneous development."
    • What's the problem? As Donald Trump would say, "Gamma is an excellent tool, a great-great tool. We love Gamma, Gamma loves us, it is perfect. No tool can be better than Gamma." Do not exaggerate. When they try to sell something this much, it smells bad. Be neutral and objective as much as possible, even when something is indeed great. The reader shall comprehend its true greatness from the evidence you provide, not because you say so.
    • Proper form: "The Gamma Statechart Composition Framework is a tool created to support platform-independent modeling and heterogeneous development of [system] components."
