I agree, the data should not be part of the repository. On option might be to move the computation into an gh action and keep the data in an artifact. In the vignette we would then have to fetch the data from an url, this should be doable in 1-2 lines that one should be able to digest if we add a comment like: "Here we get the pre-computed data from github".
