Dashboard Feature: Event Check-In

Overview

At the beginning of an event, you'll have an influx of users, swag to give out, and plenty of confusion and lines. To mitigate this, Dashboard offers a check-in feature that integrates automagically with event registration. All users who apply to the event and get accepted will be emailed a QR code to the email address that they signed up with. They can then present this code to people at check in and with one scan the user can be checked in to the event. Having just a few affordable barcode scanners (such as this one on Amazon), a few people at the check in station can handle large crowds quickly and efficiently.

Important Note: If users have been accepted to the event but have not checked in, they will not be able to access any features of Dashboard. Check users into the event to provide them with access.

How to Use

  1. Select the Check In icon from the menu bar. If the button is not visible, an administrator must enable the feature flag for check in.

  2. Use your mouse to click on the email/QR entry field. Even if you are using a scanner, you must click on the field for every email address that is being entered.

  3. If you are using a scanner, scan the QR code now. If the participant does not have a QR code, you can start to enter the email address associated with their account and select it from the autocomplete drop-down.

  4. Click on Check In

  5. Dashboard will not allow people who were not accepted to check in. If the user has not applied or wasn't accepted and you would still like to allow them to check in, select the "Force Check In" checkbox, enter their email address again, and then check them in. Note that the person must have a Dashboard account to be checked in at all.
