Gammapy Coding Sprint, October 2023

  • Start: Monday, October 16th, 2023 at 2 pm
  • End: Friday, October 20th, 2023 at noon
  • Location: INAF/IASF Palermo (Sicily, Italia)
  • Contacts: fabiopintore, registerrier

This meeting is a "coding sprint" for people that want to work on the development of Gammapy (http://gammapy.org/). You're very welcome if you're new to coding or haven't contributed to Gammapy yet. But note that this is not a workshop on how to use Gammapy.

Ideally all participants can dedicate most of their time to work on Gammapy during the week and make sure they are available for spontaneous discussions on Slack and remote meetings via Zoom.

The usual Zoom room of the dev calls will be open the full week. https://u-paris.zoom.us/j/83737925932?pwd=TTJnVkJQRGtTSEppODFjMFlVNkV0QT09

Local Logistics

  • The coding sprint will be held in the building of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), in Via Ugo la Malfa 153, Palermo (https://goo.gl/maps/LmUng49jaG1THXdP8).

  • The room "Aula informatica" has been booked. It is located at the very first room at the right of CNR entrance. Eduroam will be accessible

  • The institute is well connected with the city-center and the airport thanks to a metro. The closest metro station is "Palermo-La Malfa", which is 3 minutes walk.

  • The CNR does not have a canteen anymore but there are snack-bars/pubs/restaurants close the institute.

  • We do not suggest to find an accommodation close to the CNR, and not even in Mondello (public transports from there to CNR are very poor, unless you want to take a taxi every day). Nice areas, well connected to CNR and very close to the city center and the main attractions of Palermo, are those around the train stations of "Lolli", "Palermo Centrale" and "Palermo-Palazzo Reale-Orleans".
