Project: Connections to discrete algebraic topology

It would be beneficial to incorporate more concepts from discrete algebraic topology, like homotopy, fundamental group, coverings, homology and cohomology (PR #18).

A good general reference for this theory is "Rotman: Covering complexes with applications to algebraic topology".

Since this is a very large project, the first step should be the development of a design roadmap. After that, the individual aspects can be given as new Issues.
