Problem is caused by script https://github.com/rear/rear/blob/02aefaef20b779b52349a25c0bbd71389b4f0cd3/usr/share/rear/prep/GNU/Linux/280_include_virtualbox.sh

The line VBOX_COPY_AS_IS=( /etc/init.d/vboxadd* /opt/VBoxGuestAdditions-* /usr/sbin/VBoxService ) and in more particular /opt/VBoxGuestAdditions-* is causing these errors seen during mkbackup.
When we remove /opt/VBoxGuestAdditions-* then it seems to work. However, not sure what the consequences would be on the recover side?

gdha added a commit to rear/rear that referenced this issue Oct 31, 2017
…/VBoxGuestAdditions-5.1.26

directory which resulted in an issue gdha/rear-automated-testing#35
Has to do with ReaR issue #1474
We prevented copying of the VBoxGuestAdditions directory content to the rescue image. Drawback? Unknown
