I stumbled upon this blog post and lecture by Roger Peng in 2018.

I think it would be a useful resource for ERHS 535 students. Learning a bit about the history and evolution of R helps place ERHS 535 content (and its focus on the tidyverse) in perspective.

P.S. This helped me think about why you taught 535 this way. But there are so many opinions.
