Keyboard shortcut for Go to Next Marker does not work #3312
Comments
Thanks for the system info, you can get it all in one place by copying the three lines from WFM on:
What is your locale? Is your keyboard anything other than US Intl? Does XFCE use |
Here's what I get from Help->Debug Messages:
07:03:48.800453: Geany INFO : Geany 1.38, en_US.UTF-8
07:03:48.800474: Geany INFO : GTK 3.24.33, GLib 2.72.1
07:03:48.800500: Geany INFO : OS: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS (jammy)
My locale is US and keyboard is US. I've used Geany and the "Search/Go to
Next Marker" shortcut (Ctrl+.) for many years. The problem started after I
upgraded from XUbuntu 20.04.1 to 22.04.1 a few months ago.
From XUbuntu Settings/Keyboard/Application Shortcuts, there are no XFCE or
any other conflicts with Ctl+.
From Geany Help/Keyboard Shortcuts, Go to Next Marker is set as Ctrl+.
The only Geany plugin I use is Split Window and the problem occurs even
when I uncheck Split Window in Tools/Plugin Manager and restart Geany.
Upon pressing Ctrl+. an underlined *e* replaces the character at the
cursor, and pressing it again restores the original character.

XFCE use Ctrl+. for anything?

I tried pressing Ctrl+. in mousepad (ver 0.5.8), another text editor for xfce, and the same problem occurs: pressing Ctrl+. causes an underlined e to replace the character at the cursor, and pressing it again restores the original character. |
Problem with Ctrl+. keyboard shortcut still exists but it also occurs on other XUbuntu 22.04.1 text editors (like mousepad) so it's not a Geany problem. I don't have the skills to identify the problem source so I'm closing the issue. |
The keyboard shortcut "Ctrl+." (for Go to Next Marker) displays an underlined "e" character at the cursor on text files (such as .php, .js, or .html). The menu item "Search/Go to Next Marker" works properly, and both the "Search/Go to Previous Marker" menu item and its shortcut "Ctrl+," also work properly. It's only the one keyboard shortcut that fails.
From Help/About: geany 1.38 ("Sulamar") - Using GTK+ v3.24.33 and GLib v2.72.1 runtime libraries
From terminal, geany -V reports: geany 1.38 (built on 2021-10-14 with GTK 3.24.30, GLib 2.68.4)
Running on XUbuntu 22.04.1 (LTS)
