Regarding using Twitter API

I want to use this twitter API, to store tweets on my database. I am new to opensource and git hub,
I am using ubuntu 12.04

Please help me for further proceedings.

Thanks for replying.

I am doing research work on Big Data Analytic. So I would be interested in
Twitter Data, SO I can perform some analysis on the data.
I found Twitter API for streaming data and Search API for specific tweets
on Git hub .
SO I may be interested in getting some pattern out of it.
I want to know how I can access these API and store data in my database.
