Proxima found this.

This dovetailed into a bug in Lix where LevelMetaData objects were uninitialized. Even though the level (Minimalism 2) would be loaded with date = all zeroes, the metadata would be uninitialized and never match the zeroes, producing "?!" in the browser. This bug is fixed in my local code.
