@dandv why?

Because when it comes to software development, English is the universal language. Jeff Atwood, the founder of StackOverflow, has said it very well in this blog post on why if you want to be decent programmer, you want to learn English. Translating programming books from English only helps people in the very short term and hurts them in the long run by encouraging them to isolate themselves into a scarce parallel universe of documentation in their own language.

@dandv thanks for the interesting counter-point perspective.

@getify: You're welcome. I've expanded on why we should just get on with the program and use English as much as practical at English as a universal language. NB: I'm not a native English speaker. As to @jptiancai, @flyyang and @a757375927: my advice is, learn English before learning to program. I would not be where I am now if I stuck with my mother tongue.

O'Reilly handles all foreign translations for official distribution.

My position remains unchanged from what's stated here: #9 (comment)
