The project platform setting isn't restricting what gets logged to the project - in fact, as you can see on this question's screenshot, even if a project is specifically set to Javascript, it still gives instructions on connecting PHP, Python, etc.?

This is mostly so we can apply some sane defaults on how to render the stack frames visually.

We definitely don't prevent you from sending a JavaScript error to a project that is set to Python, for example.
