This is gclip_select, a small program that allows you to re-select from the text lines that were selected at one time or another as the X Primary Selection. This is useful when, in X Windows, if you have selected something using the left mouse button (as in the convention of the X Windows System) and you later select something else but want to get back to the earlier selection. Thus this program allows you to quickly switch between frequently copied texts for pasting. When you select some text you will notice gclip_select window adds the newly selected text to the list. And you can choose any earlier selection in the list window to make it the X11 primary selection again; you can then past it using the middle mouse button. This program is written in Vala and requires gtk+2.0, glib 2.8 (or above) and libgee 1.0 (or above), but you can build it following the usual GNU convention, that is, ./configure --prefix=<install dir> make make install to run it from the command line type gclip_select & This program is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later, as published by the Free Software Foundation. See the license text in the file LICENSE. gclip_select is distributed in the hope that it will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. See the GNU General Public License for more details. Hopefully this program is useful to you. Changes: Version 0.5, 20110504: work around the gtk+ behavior which sets the X primary selection for each character as you drag-select; now gclip_select only inserts a new X primary selection which was set at least 0.9 sec ago; fix a bug where the X selection ownership was by force transferred to this program upon making a new selection which was not necessary Version 0.4, 20110418: Usability enhancements: proper enabling and disabling depending on states, content table sync to list model change, scrolling to the newly inserted selection Version 0.3, 20110417: put the selection list in a scroll window to enable better user management of the selection contents; also two buttons to allow the remove of one selection or all the selections from the selection list window Version 0.2, 20110408: add check for duplicated selections, to avoid adding duplicated entries Version 0.1, 20110407: initial release Andy Tai atai@atai.org
