The recruitment industry is one the high rise in the past couple of years. With tremendous development in terms of technology and business processes that has influenced every industry and segments, the need for professionals who can take the productivity to a whole new level are in great demand. A placement consultant is an individual who acts as an intermediary bridge between the client company which is in need for professionals for recruitment and the job seekers in a particular area or functionality. Hence in modern corporate world, the needs for placement consultants have increased tremendously to meet the recruitment goals of organizations. The job role of such consultants is directed at two ends, which are the employer or the recruiter and the candidate or the job seeker end. The functionalities of these two segments are as follows.

For the employer

  • The consultant initially analyses the recruitment stand point of the client company with respect to the current workforce mix. This helps in understanding the strengths, present skill sets and gaps in functionality within the organization.
  • The consultant is responsible for presenting the suitable candidate list to the client that is in line with the recruitment requirement. These candidates have a better chance of getting selected after the final evaluation as they have already been pre evaluated and tested by the consultant for better understanding.
  • These consultants also evaluate the existing interview and hiring process and produce a report related to the strengths and loopholes of the entire system. Based on this observation, he or she also suggests the measures that can be utilized for increasing the effectiveness of the entire process starting from approaching candidates to the on boarding of the fresh recruits.

For the job seekers

  • If a candidate is looking for the job opportunities in a niche industry or functionality, then a placement consultant can help in sending out the profile to the relevant companies. Sometimes, these consultants have information regarding certain openings which are not available on any public domains or job portals.
  • A resume is the first hand representation of the candidate in front of the employer. So it is very important that the resume is professionally sound and inclined towards the industry requirement for successful selection. The consultant can aid in creating or modifying the resume in line with the vacancies.

Lastly they can also assist the candidate towards preparation of the interviews and selection process. The grooming and communication tips provided by them are often helpful in creating a firsthand good impression in front of the hiring professional in order to successfully crack the process.
