If people are using common extensions for Firefox, we should consider looking into retheming the icons with a GNOME symbolic style, if possible.

Everyone, please start by listing the extensions you use that place icons in your toolbar... (:

TO DO / DONE

  • Ad Block Plus
  • Feedly
  • Ghostery
  • DownThemAll Manager
  • Stylish
  • Scriptish/Greasemonkey
  • XMark
  • Lastpass
  • Clearly
  • Kindle It
  • gTranslator
  • NoScript/YesScript
  • uBlock
  • InstantFox (This is just a magnifying glass, no need for an icon /me thinks)
  • Bookie
  • Bluhell Firewall
  • VimFx
  • Web Developer (Probably needs more than one icon, but they can be copied from the icon theme)
  • Privacy Badger
  • uBlock Origin

NEED STYLESHEETS

  • uBlock
  • PrivacyBadger
  • Evernote
  • NoScript

The timeframe for this is probably post-15. We can target somewhere between 15.2 (that is, after the 15.1 release, which is in this week) to 16 for landing a bunch of these.

I think, Movable Firefox Button and FxButton must have gear icon on nav-bar.

There are a bunch of great suggestions here so far! (:

Besides the already mentioned, I use Flashblock which puts a colorful icon in the toolbar.

I started making the icons, not sure when or if I'm going to finish all of them but I'll try. Here's the work so far(just in case someone is working on them too) > https://www.dropbox.com/s/fbhjfg3aaglz0z3/DeepinScreenshot-011.png

This is looking great so far!

Also, BTW: icons for the extensions I use:

  • FoxToPhone
It's monochromatic by default, but looks a little large compared to the other icons. It's just the Android head, but we might want to consider a smaller version that fits in better.
  • LastPass
The second icon in the icon settings works just fine.
  • Pocket
As it's in the URL bar, it looks fine more-or-less. (Although it's aligned slightly down... but I think that's to make it look more pocket-like.)

Update: I forgot that Pocket had a toolbar icons too, for viewing articles. Whoops.

Just replace a icons in branches and merge it to master. I think it is good plan. <_<

I failed with the previous commits. Excuse me. :(

Yes, I'll try completing a bunch of them and send you the svg to commit.

@0rAX0: Your comment made me check to see if you were on the team for full r/w access. It appears you weren't. Oops! Oversight resolved. You're officially on the team now. (:

@0rAX0, for Xmarks Sync needed more icons. For "dirty" and "error" we can used icon with exclamation markwith (just recolor to yellow/red), for "my" - default image, for "sync" - colored icon. What you think about it? But icons for settings and similarsites we don't have. :( You can do it?)

0rAX0 commented Aug 27, 2012

@seleznev The only needed icon is dirty.png, the rest is just bloat, you can access all that by right-clicking on the icon. So, I prefer adding more extensions instead. :)
BTW, you have the wrong icon for plugins.svg, that's Lastpass not plugins. :D

@garrett Can I modify your report to list the remaining extensions?

Feel free to modify my report. Yes.

I'm working on Firebug at the moment. I have a symbolic icon that works, but am converting it to be smaller. (I designed it larger. Usually, I do icons at 1:1, but this was a special case...)

I would like to ask an icon for Bookie extension.

Bookie is a free python-based bookmarks manager that has the ability to import bookmarks from Mozilla.

Bookie is an essential gate for Linux users to not being dependent on Mozilla and start using Midori, QupZilla, Web etc.

This ticket is wrong Re-theme common extension icons >> Port common extensions to Midori and Web.

Dear @GreenLunar , this is a repo for a Firefox theme, please stop mentioning Midori and other browsers on every comment, it's getting very boring.

I will stop.

I'll be adding the remaining icons shortly. Sorry for taking so long, I don't use Linux primarily anymore.

I see uBlock is marked as done, but uBlock Origin is missing. Please add as to do.

0rAX0 commented Sep 27, 2015

@gregorydk It's still under "need stylesheet" :)
The icon is done but it needs someone else to replace it on the theme, unfortunately, my VM Linux setup is unconfigured and I'm too busy to deal with it right now, so I've been just pushing the icons.

@gregorydk

@0rAX0 I'm not talking about µBlock, but uBlock Origin which µBlock is a fork of. uBlock Origin uses a different icon. See https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

NoScript as well, seems like the CSS file for these icons is missing.

@gregorydk Privacy Badger has a very weird implementation for its toolbar icon, I couldn't figure out a way to replace it, unfortunately. (Pushbullet as well, which is broken for me for now)
And the last time I tried the WD extension it seemed to require a whole bunch of icons, I'll see again if it can be fixed in a sane manner.

@d9h02f I added initial support for NoScript. I didn't know it required more than just two icons so you might encounter a breakage when scripts aren't fully blocked.

Now NoScript should work fine, sorry if the commits don't make any sense. I'm working from a VM to test and change code and Inkscape from OS X because the crappy GTK2 version on the VM looks too small on the Retina. sighs

NoScript is actually still missing several icons, it seems.
