Sidebar switches to wrong session after closing one

VTE version: 0.54
GTK Version: 3.24.3
Tilix Special Features: Notifications enabled=0, Triggers enabled=0, Badges enabled=1

Retested with Tilix 1.9.1 / VTE 0.56; issue is not resolved.

After starting Tilix, adding sessions for a total of three or more sessions total and then closing one session the Tilix sidebar will switch to the wrong session when using the mouse to switch. Ctrl + Alt + [N] shortcuts still works to switch to the correct session.

The minimum to reproduce this issue is with 3 sessions:

1. Start Tilix, with no other Tilix window open;
2. Create 2 additional sessions with the '+' button in the headerbar;
3. The 3rd session is active; switch back to the 1st using the sidebar;
4. Close that session by clicking the 'x' button;
5. Now clicking on the 2nd session in the sidebar it just stays on the 1st session.

It gets stranger with more sessions, like with 5 sessions:

1. Start Tilix, with no other Tilix window open;
2. Create 4 additional sessions with the '+' button in the headerbar;
3. The 5th session is active; switch back to the 1st using the sidebar;
4. Close that session by clicking the 'x' button;
5. Now clicking on the 2nd session in the sidebar it just stays on the 1st session, clicking on the 3rd switches to the 2nd, clicking on the 4th switches to the 3rd and trying to get back to the 1st by clicking on the 1st it doesn't switch or do anything (have to click the 2nd session to switch to the 1st session).

I'm pretty confident I've not had this issue for more than 2 weeks at most. I upgraded from Tilix 1.8.5 to 1.8.9 on January 11.

I am running into this, and I have ran into it, in the past.

I haven't done the work that OP has, as to how to reproduce the error, but I can confirm the statements he made.

Retested with Tilix 1.9.1 / VTE 0.56; can still reproduce this annoying issue.

Anything I can provide to help with finding the cause?

My apologies for the delay, had a look and had no issue reproducing thanks to the excellent steps. Problem should be fixed now.
