Took a look through the bugtracker but noticed this doesn't exist yet:

custom fields in the issue tracker. A lot of issue trackers, like Jira, Phabricator, RedMine allow custom fields. custom fields are very useful to record stuff that doesn't belong in the description. For example a selection of the custom fields we use current:

  • Customer involved in this request
  • Origin of the report (forum link)
  • Waiting: When an issue is depending on something from the customer, or some other event, keep track of what this issue is blocked on.
  • Docs status: combobox on if this issue needs documentation, if it's already documented or if it's in progress.

Obviously I'm not suggesting adding fields like this to Gitea itself, what I instead suggest is allowing the project to define custom fields of a few types (like Text, Memo, Url, Combobox) and reading/filling through the web interface or api.

Is there a workaround to work with issues via API and structured content?
e.g.:

  • defining content as { key = value } in the body or title?
  • finding issues by searching in a key for a value?
  • editing the value of a key via api without parsing the body manually?
