In Zooshi, try finding the draw call for the Hippo and try to get him standing upright and facing you. It's infuriatingly impossible as you lose an axis of rotation.

This allows unlimited rotation in both axes.

In this particular case, does the Y↑ button not help?

It does, but it feels like a workaround and it's still quite infuriating. Not the highest priority bug but thank you Andrew for taking a look!

My only concern with gimbal lock-free rotations is that roll creeps in. With the mouse down, doing round-and-round motions will roll the model along Z.
Perhaps this should be on a toggle?

How about a recenter button? That would fix all cases.

As a personal preference, I much prefer to deal with roll, than fighting with gimbal. I find it is usually fairly straight-forward to get myself back to any particular rotation.
