Transformation: Grouping to matrix header incorrect #87332
Comments
One more note: |
Just upgraded to Grafana 11.0.0. Problem still exists. |
I am also facing the same issue here, Grafana version - v10.3.3 When using the same query in the Grafana - v9.0.7, everything works fine, While trying to check further noticed a difference in the transform debug that the field.config has no properties in previous version of grafana, but in the grafana v10.4, field.config.displayNameFromDS which has the value "last" that is being displayed in the headers. Attaching screenshot for reference, hiding the query due to sensitive information. v9.0.7 v10.3.3 Adding the query excluding sensitive info, v9.0.7 - "SELECT last("value") FROM "v" WHERE ("bd" = 'plant_name' AND "d" =~ /.INV./ AND "f" =~ /.IDC./) AND time >= now() - 7d and time <= now() GROUP BY time(5m), "d", "f" fill(null)" v10.3.3 - "SELECT last("value") FROM "v" WHERE ("p" = 'plant_name' AND "d" =~ /.*INV./ AND "f" =~ /.*IDC./) AND time >= 1716316200000ms and time <= 1716402599999ms GROUP BY time(1d,-330m), "d", "f" fill(null)" -- As you can see form above pics that the field.config.displayNameFromDS:"last" is considered for naming and it is same for all, if there are any workaround or configuration change available to override this setting, would be helpful in getting the desired column header. -- your valuable feedback is really appreciated. Thanks |
What happened?
When using the "Grouping to matrix" transformation on table data, the name of the Cell value field appears in the header instead of the value referred by the Column name.
Editing the transformation by removing/re-adding the Column field fixes the headers until the next dashboard refresh or page reload.
What did you expect to happen?
The value in the column field of the transformation should show up in the header of the table.
Did this work before?
Yes, up to and including 10.2.2
How do we reproduce it?
Is the bug inside a dashboard panel?

OS: Docker image default
Browser: Chrome 124, Firefox 125
