Along with the starter kit itself I'd like to include some recommendations on what to avoid and why.

Because of large http calls, privacy issues and energy use

I want to be careful with wording to not recommend that others never use these technologies, but that they are only used after thoughtful consideration of their drawbacks.

Love that you're taking on these future threats of datacenter energy demand like my Musical capstone, which Nature mag predicts will be 8%+ of global electric demand by 2030, tech industry as a whole being over a fifth!

If you want to be more discerning you could suggest "allowable" more ethical efforts:
Crypto - PoS like Ethereum (1/100th of PoW elec).
AI - local-run like GPT4All or more transparent like HuggingFace
3rd party - lightweight/privacy designed like SimpleAnalytics
