(generic issue for discussion)

Remembering the discussion about OpenSeaMap tagging, it's possibile to support some tags for harbours and ports?
This wouldn't influence greatly the current rendering because the features to be handled are found only in limited areas.

For example, how about starting with rendering port areas (other than marinas)? (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OpenSeaMap/Harbours#Harbour_Categories)

In this area the only visible landuse is that tagged with landuse=industrial

I'm skeptical about the accuracy of a wiki page on harbours which fails to mention harbour=*, landuse=harbour, or leisure=marina...

I want to see a resolution between the OpenSeaMap "private namespace" and the rest of the community. I feel very similar to https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2013-December/015923.html about this.

I'd prefer to wait until there's some kind of resolution between the two communities, and I'm not involved enough to offer any solutions. I'd like to see a clear approach before we add any disputed tagging here.

@pnorman @gravitystorm I was referring precisely to that topic, what I could do, bumping it?

I'd suggest working further on the mailing lists with the openseamap guys - they seem willing to work on resolving the differences. I'd suggest starting with the easy things (like getting rid of harbour:toilets tags), see what work is required for that kind of thing and then move onto the more complex stuff.
