Wallet crashes daily #1493
Comments
Hmm. Around midnight looks like the scraper log archiving routine. This also is a clue in Thread 13... 2 libboost_filesystem.dylib 0x0000000102b0cca0 boost::filesystem::detail::dir_itr_close(void*&, void*&) + 48 Please go to the following directory... /Users/your name here/Library/Application/Support/GridcoinResearch Then restart your wallet and let's see if this stops the problem. |
Files in logarchive directory:
I have taken the suggested actions and will let you know tomorrow if it has any effect. |
Deleting the logarchive directory did not help. It crashed again today. Same error. |
Did it recreate the logarchive directory and is there a file in there? |
Yes and yes |
Still crashing every day? Will you do me a favor and at the debug console, run the following command... archivescraperlog and see if your wallet crashes with that? |
Yes it is still crashing like clockwork and it is driving me crazy. Yes it crashes immediately after executing the archivescraperlog command. |
Well at least we are zeroing in on the culprit. Can you send me the directory listing of the GridcoinResearch data directory, and also post the scraper.log file here. I am interested to see if there are other scraper.* files in that directory.

To temporarily disable archiving and stop the crashing, put the following in your config file... scraperlogarchivedaily=0 And restart your wallet. |
GridcoinResearch directory listing:
The scraper.log file was empty after the crash (before restarting).
Thanks for the tip. It seems to have worked. |
Alright I think I've fixed the issue, it is not crashing with |
It may have been the underlying boost version. We are using boost quite a bit more in the new version, and old versions of boost can cause problems.

In case you were not aware, I could not compile the code with boost 1.70+ as the |
Interesting. We will have to look at that. |
Everyday for the past four days my wallet has crashed at approximately midnight UTC. I have version v4.0.4.0 (installed with Homebrew) on Mac 10.13. I have been using this version for a while without issue and then this suddenly started happening on July 3rd after a soft reboot. I am in investor mode, unlocked for staking only, and things seem to be working the rest of the time (by chance I have staked successfully since this issue has started).
Here is the Apple report from the first crash:
