When I search for connection on a route where only rare service is (bus in Germany in the countryside) it is possible that I get connections only for the next day. So it would be nice, to see this already in the overview. (if the connection is for the date I searched or for another day)

Maybe it is only necessary to show this, when there are shown connections with are on different days - or on an other day than the one I searched for.
Or: there is a switch in the settings witch say s.th. like "show date in connection overview".

  • Where do you think the date could be added?
  • Do you think it makes sense to add the date for how most people are using Transportr?
  • How do you currently notice that the results are for the next day?
  • Do you think a small date somewhere would help you with recognizing they are for the next day?

Where do you think the date could be added?

behind the start: like "14:02 Hamburg Hbf (ab 17.06.)"

Do you think it makes sense to add the date for how most people are using Transportr?

yes and no. A lot of people will not need it - but when transprotr shows the date only when the connections is for the next day - all people witch will not need it will not be disturbed

How do you currently notice that the results are for the next day?

Sometimes I do not notice.
At the moment, I do not go often to such regions. Normally I noticed it, when I search for a connection e.g. at 15:00 and I got one at 10:00.

Do you think a small date somewhere would help you with recognizing they are for the next day?

Would be perfectly fine.

I was actually really bitten by this the other day, thinking my connection out of a mountain village in Austria back to Germany would be at 6:26 on Sunday morning. I was out with two small kids, and we waited for that bus for more than half an hour before I finally realised that there was no service on Sunday.

I think displaying the date if it's not within the next 24 hours, or a little icon to indicate "not today" would be really good to have…

I am sorry to hear that 😞

That's actually a good idea. There could be a red triangle with an exclamation mark inside if the connection is not on the same day that you searched for. I like this better than showing the date somewhere.

That, or maybe a badge that says "tomorrow" or "+2 days", similar to how airline tickets will show it.

I was wondering why this has never happened to me when I was still using Öffi, but I think the reason is quite simple that Öffi's awesome 2D sliding display makes it obvious… maybe that would be worth a consideration too?

There's a dedicated ticket for that now: #457

This might look similar to how cancelled or impossible connections are marked now with 8414ba2. One thing to consider might be how it should behave when search time is close to midnight and connections are displayed after midnight. Perhaps it would make more sense to show the warning only e.g. if there are more than 24 hours between search time and the connection.

Unfortunately, I cannot see the date, which should be implemnted by fix #946 .

It looks like the connections are on July 28, 2024, which is a Sunday.
However I can confirm: this bus doesn't operate on Sunday! These are connections for Monday.
You cannot find this out in the app.

I would suggest to implement a fix like this:
If no connection is found on the same day:

  1. add a line displaying the day of week + date + text saying "No connection found". (maybe also a warning sign)
  2. if there are several days without a connection: add a separate line like above for each day.
  3. above the first day with a connection, add a line displaying just the day of week + date.

In fact, I believe it would be good to add (3) whenever the day changes. Because e.g. if you scroll through the list of connections, it would be always good to know on which day they are.

I also believe that displaying the day of week + date would be better than saying "not tomorrow". Because you might also plan trips in advance. Especially if you plan some holidays in smaller villages :-).
