We need to create drafts of the new onboarding content for the wiki.

Part of epic #273.

Action Items

• Using the outline from Create Onboarding Wiki Layout #221, create a drafts for each page of the onboarding wiki

  • AtD open positions
  • Checklist before volunteering:
    • Do you have the skills required?
    • Can you realistically do six hours of project work a week?
    • Can you realistically commit to working on the project for 6 or more months?
  • How to volunteer at AtD

Resources/Instructions

• HfLA tries to write guides as a single source of truth. Avoid redundant work by checking out the guides tracker to see if a guide has already been written or drafted that you can take information from/use.

How to contribute to Access the Data

Step 1: See if Access the Data has any open positions

Check out our open positions section here.

Before continuing, please ask yourself these questions:

• Do you have the skills required to perform the work needed?
• Can you realistically commit to working on this project for at least six months, working about six hours a week?
• Are you available at the posted meeting times?

If you see something you are interested in and

• You are a member of Hack for LA, message the #access-the-data Slack channel about your interest
  OR
• You are NOT a member of Hack for LA, email accessthedata@hackforla.org about your interest

If you are not a member of Hack for LA and the PM has agreed to let you onto the project, you will need to...

Step 2: Join Hack for LA

If you are already a Hack for LA volunteer, you can skip this section.

Access the Data is a Hack for LA product, and all volunteers working on the project come from Hack for LA's Communities of Practice. So if you would like to help out on this project you will need to join Hack for LA.

Step 3: Join Access the Data

Once a PM has approved you coming onto the project, you will need to be onboarded. This will include:

• You filling in your information to our team roster
• Getting you access to our:
  • GitHub repositories
  • Slack channels
  • Figma
  • meeting invites
  • Google drive
• Meeting with a project PM to give you a tour of our workspace
