When I try to open the live demo on my iPhone 4 it freezes Safari and in some cases the iOS.

When using Atomic Web Browser (paid edition) Version 6.0.1 on iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1 with Atomic Web Browser set to Identify Browser As "Default - Mobile Safari" the demo page takes an unusual amount of time to load and perform poorly when it is finally loaded.

Load time is roughly 20 seconds.
Frame-rate on CSS effects is low enough to where some of the effects are unnoticeable except as a slow-down of the scrolling field.

Attempting to load demo site on Safari on the same iPhone yields Safari unresponsive (I waited 30+ seconds each attempt and Safari appeared to do nothing, but the little 'spinning wheel' at the top of the page was rotating) as OP stated - I, however, could not replicate the freezing of iOS, although it did take about 10 seconds after each of Safari's fits of unresponsiveness to return to the home page after I pressed the home button on the iPhone.

Opera Mini (Version 7.0.1.32694) on the same iPhone 4 loads a demo page that is sorted one 'scroll effects' demo at a time vertically with large gaps of space in between them. The scroll boxes do not function as scrolling boxes - can only view the displayed fields within them statically (making the fields that you would have to scroll to see unable to be viewed). Load time, however, is instantaneous.
