I'm not really seeing a reason to port away from it, so I'm scrapping this.

Textual might be worth looking into, though it's not a full GUI, just a VERY nice TUI.

This does need to be done sooner rather than later with PySimpleGUI 5's new license. Until then, pinning PySimpleGUI to v4 would be a good idea
