Can the build steps be documented pls?

I downloaded the zip from maser and i got this:
go test -timeout 30s ./...
go: github.com/go-openapi/loads@v0.19.0 requires

fatal: git fetch-pack: expected shallow list
make: *** [test] Error 1

Am sure i'm doing something wrong. I'm just running "make"

go version go1.13.6 linux/amd64
