Hi @cgriggs01,
For Packer commands or templates, the packer-plugin- prefix must not be included, otherwise Packer will throw errors stating that the source name should be shorter, without this prefix, so the current syntax is valid and expected.
Let me know if you have questions, but otherwise I would suggest closing this PR, as we cannot merge this with the current way Packer works.
