Goal: be the cPanel (http://cpanel.net/) of bitcoin mining.

Problem: there is no good way to manage a large cluster (> 10?) of bitcoin miners. Each miner comes with its own control interface, and so machines are managed individually via ssh or individual web interface. Hosting providers need a way to manage their machines as well as expose this ability to their customers.

Solution: manage any number of machines all from a single web application.

Hashpanel use cases:

  • monitor current status of machines (hashrate, temperature, etc)
  • monitor actual performance in comparison to rated hardware specifications
  • change the pool that a miner is currently mining for
  • easily connect new miners to the system

Some potential customers (incomplete list):

Potential competitors:

Hashpanel differentiators: Ability to “private label” the software for customers by customizing the design with your own branding You do not have to install any custom software on the miners themselves; hashpanel hooks in remotely. I don’t currently know of any other software that can do this.

Two-tiered service:

End-user edition(approx 1-20 miners, approximately):

  • first 5 machines are free, then $2 per miner per month.
  • goal is to capture market share
  • hosted SaaS

Provider edition(up to hundreds of miners):

  • something like $50 per miner per year for license, hosting, and monitoring. cheaper if self-hosted, but not convincingly so
  • goal is to generate revenue
  • hosted SaaS or local on-premises installation

Marketing outlets:

  • build up cred on bitcointalk.org
  • convert local interest into published news articles
  • bitcoin news sites (coindesk.com, zeroblock.com, et al)
  • possibly attending http://bitcoin2014.com/
  • ???
