Code-Refactor

Horiseon Social Solutions, Inc.

Description of Challenge

My challenge was to refactor an existing webpage to make it accessible and to improve SEO. I made the following changes to the html and css files:

  • The title was rewritten to improve user understanding and recognition in search results.
  • Semantic elements were changed in the html file to improve structure, future use and accessibility.
  • Alt attributes were added to images per the Acceptance Criteria.
  • CSS file was reordered for proper structure, and some portions were consolidated to remove redundancies.

Technologies Used

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • Terminal
  • GitHub

Acceptance Criteria

  • GIVEN a webpage that meets accessibility standards
  • WHEN I view the source code
    • THEN I find semantic HTML elements
  • WHEN I view the structure of the HTML elements
    • THEN I find that the elements follow a logical structure independent of styling and positioning
  • WHEN I view the icon and image elements
    • THEN I find accessible alt attributes
  • WHEN I view the heading attributes
    • THEN I find that they fall in sequential order
  • WHEN I view the title element
    • THEN I find a concise, descriptive title
