Failed to install helix via cargo

I tried to install Helix via Cargo but it failed. Here are my installation commands and the installation error:

What binary does $CC point to? And what version is that C/C++ compiler?

$CC points to is empty:

@gabydd Thank you for your response. However, I am not familiar with C++. How can I solve this problem?

First thing to try is to install a more recent version of gcc through your package manager, at least gcc 6 I think, but a more recent version would probably be better(gcc it's currently at version 14)

Leaving aside the old GCC version installing helix wotgkut cloneing the repo with cargo install is not supported and does not work as the runtime directory is not setup. Refer to the build from source section of the documentation
