I'm not absolutely sure (cc @archseer @pickfire), but I believe that it can be on the wiki as long as it's being maintained by someone. Feel free to open a PR to include it in the repo as well, if you'd like.

The best way to share themes is to include it in helix by uploading a theme and put the screenshot to the wiki so others can compare (I wish the theme choose can automatically switch the theme dynamically like vscode). Uploading to helix allows other users to easily use your theme which is most likely the reason we have a contrib section there. The contributors will happily accept any pull requests for that, since it's a personal theme we will just merge usually.

You can separate it, but it will make users hard to find your theme since it's not bundled (users can't do a cp). Which is why sending it to helix is recommended. At the same time, when there are new highlighters, we will help you to add a comment in the theme so that you can add it easily later without having to diff it yourselves.

Actually, I think it will automatically reload the new theme with :theme.

I mean something like :theme <tab> (and more <tab>) and it will temporarily show the new theme so you can easily compare.

I ended up porting a couple more themes to helix (all gruvbox-material, everforest and sonokai variants, for now).

What are some colorblind-friendly color themes you normally use? I'd be interested in shipping them together with Helix. Maybe the themes used on github could work? There's a nvim theme with the colorblind versions we could port: https://github.com/projekt0n/github-nvim-theme

Hey man, thanks. I'm not experienced at coding yet. But none of the themes of Alacritty, Kitty, or Helix are suitable for me. VSCode did have two that worked: Atom One Light & Darcula. I'll try to have a look at those you suggested.

In any case, I've decided to make my own, beginning with Kitty terminal. When I'm finished, I'll probably move on to your editor if those other themes don't work out (or I'll make my own anyhow).

No. I've tried at least 300 themes. None work, but those two I mentioned. (Darcula works, as in dark, not the vampire).

I'm almost finished with my first one for Kitty. I think I'll spend the next couple weeks making colorblind themes for the community.

I agree that having too many themes that get packaged with helix might end up as bloat/maintenance burden, but as of now there isn't really a singular place for themes other than the ones that ship with helix.

Though, if you're willing to keep the theme up to date you could always make a PR and see what others think.

Unfortunately I am not able to make a PR, because I can not fork this repository. I guess this is because there are too many forks around already. Here is the file: autumn.toml

Afaik github does not have a forking limit. It does prevent you from creating multiple forks of the same repository though: you might already have a getreu/helix fork.

This looks gorgeous! I'm a big fan of at least having comments the same brightness as code, so I'm always tweaking other themes. I'll give this a shot!

This is fantastic. I have been wanting to try a minimal theme with a sparse, opinionated use of color. Nice work.
